Go Zags

Despite all this cheering and excitement, the Zags did manage to lose to Portland St. Dillon was a big fan of Spike, the dancers, the music during timeouts, oh and yes.. the basketball.

Merry Christmas!

It is a winter wonderland here in Sandpoint, ID. I'm happy to report that Mike had "the best birthday ever" since we skied in knee high (and sometimes more) powder, with faceshots and no one on the hill. It was a ton of fun and thanks to our babysitter at home, Mrs. Claus, aka Linda.
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Star

This year I've been dreading Christmas and the 23rd coming around. To cheer me up, I decided I wanted a Christmas tree I loved, so I upgraded from our hand-me-down ornaments to our first real adult and family tree. It turned out lovely and even brought Mike to tears. It has filled me with mixed emotions, but that is about par for the course these days.

Here is a picture of a silver ornament Mike bought me to remember our loss by. It is really sweet...a silver star but the points of the star make a pretty little flower for our Julia Rose. It also goes with Mike's silver star his Mom gave each of the kids when little, hanging in the background. What a thoughtful guy.

HoHoHo

Here we are with Santa. Dillon wasn't too excited to sit on Santa's lap on his own. After this we did traumatize him as we had them take the official picture without us. It is the best picture we have yet of Dillon's tonsils!

Here are pics from our snow day

Tape Crazy

Here are a couple pics from our weekend...
Mike got a little tired of wrapping so he taped his face instead. It scared Dillon and me too!

Our holiday village. Thanks Gina!

First snowfall this year and Dillon really gets it this year.

O Christmas Tree

Dillon LOVES our tree. Here he is checking it out for the first time. He says 'nono' when he gets close as he knows not to touch the pretty ornaments/balls. He has done really well with not breaking any so far.

Garden of Lights

We visited the Bellevue Botanical Garden of Lights this weekend with Jackie and Andy. It was amazing! Dillon loved all the lights.

Dillon checks out NuNu's holiday train. Listen and you'll hear his train/engine sounds occasionally too.

Christmas Tree cutting

Here we are picking out and cutting down our christmas tree for my parent's house. We're a bit behind on our blog updates but we had a really nice Thanksgiving with all my siblings there. It was a quiet couple days and fun to hang out with all the grandkids.

Swept Away

Playing at the Beach - check out where we snorkeled and played one day in Cabo. It was fun! I meant to say in the video that we arrived by car, not boat. Anyways, I thought for a second Dillon was going to be swept away.

Cabo Wabo

Cabo was a hot, relaxing break. We had a great time with Pops & Nunu - thanks for all the hospitality and babysitting!! What did we do on vacation??...golfed a lot, swam with dolphins, read, swam, snorkeled, saw geckos/lizards and one giant tarantula, ate too much, saw my cousins the Flicks, and relaxed. Our trip home was eventful too - the plane taking off in front of us caught fire and crash landed - no casualties thankfully, then Dillon had a major diaper blowout that spilled onto Mike and left little Dillon pantless for the flight home. Poor Mike had to deal with it all as I wasn't feeling so hot from the turbulence. Needless to say, we were glad to make it home to bed. Here are the unabridged vacation pics.

Go Irish

Well, the Irish came to town last weekend and showed the Huskies a little about ND football. Mike was out of town for work, so it made dressing Dillon much easier! Otherwise, there could have been a serious tug of war on which school Dillon supported. I did manage to mix in a little Husky gear but clearly Dillon was a big fan of Notre Dame football. Can't wait to take him to the old South Bend and show him touchdown Jesus.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

I'm a bit behind on my pics and videos this week so i thought I'd just write a quick note. Dillon is 18 months now. he weighed 25 lbs at his checkup putting him at 45% in weight and 90th percentile in height. Lately Mike and I have had a lot of chats about what we should and shouldn't be teaching Dillon. For example, burps might be funny now when Dad does them at home, but not so cute in public at preschool class. For some reason, Mike got the idea to teach Dillon to slap me on the butt whenever i'm changing or naked. So now Dillon waits around for me to change or sneaks up and yells 'Daa' while spanking me. It is hard not to laugh but I'm just waiting to see when Dillon springs that on someone else in public. Mike will have some explaining to do!

Pumpkin Patch

We had a busy weekend as we took Dillon to his first Husky game. He did pretty well and lasted for the first half. Today we went to the pumpkin patch with the Doyles.

Ladies Lookout

Do you think these two heartbreakers will be as much trouble as their Daddys? Let's hope they are sweet to the ladies and don't get in too much trouble on the Queen Anne Ave in about 20 years. For now, we'll let them raise hell at the park. Theo is very charming with the ladies while his sidekick Dillon has a little pinching phase going on...and no he isn't pinching hineys, more like noses and faces.

Like Father Like Son

Mike and Dillon are a lot alike! Dillon got his haircut today and they resemble each other even more now. Here are the boys playing. Mike loves to run around naked too but we'll refrain from videotaping that.

Grandparents

Grandparents are the best. Dillon was lucky enough to see both sets this weekend and boy did he enjoy it! Grandpa Larry and Pops are really cool right now and like seeing all the cool boy things - rocks, tools, machines. Nunu and Grandma Gina give fantastic hugs and take good care of their little man. I missed my picture moment with the Schrock Grandparents, but here is a cute one with Pops and Nunu. Dillon was pretty excited about his new kicks from Nunu.

Sep 28 2008 - VID00037

Another uneventful video...what can we say, we're proud parents.

Sep 29 2008 - VID00038

Here are a couple not so exciting videos but it is all I've got lately.

schrock headlines

Dillon went to Children's today to visit his friends in the neurosurgery group. They did a CT of his head and we're glad to report the repair of his skull fracture looks great and they gave him a clean bill of health. Yeah! We're grateful for his health. Since I never seem to write much on this blog, let's see what else Dillon is up to....running, saying "go go go", occasional tantrums, a cold, loves anything outside, fantastic hugs/kisses, and as always making Mike and I laugh all day. And us big kids are doing ok too. Mike is busy as usual and a fantastic partner, friend, daddy. Each week gets a little better for me but I never know what might set me off into many tears. I started working at a new client today, Speakeasy, so the change of pace will be good. That's all for now.

Bubbles

The big hit in preschool this week was bubbles. It was sweet to see how much joy and excitement these one year olds got out of little bubbles. Oh to be so easily entertained...

Pre-school Already?

Dillon had his first day of 'pre-school' this week. He loved it and his favorite part was the dancing and music. Mike has taught him a churn the butter dance move that Dillon tried out on his new classmates. Additionally, Dillon kissed a curly haired little blonde girl three times. She wasn't too sure about his kisses or the 'mmmmaa' kissy sound effect that came with them! Looks like D will love this little set up...he wasn't afraid at all.

Great grandkids

This weekend my cousins and family came over to meet Savannah. Here are pics of all the kids. Hopefully next time we'll get all the great-grandkids...we were missing 8 if my math is correct.

Bruiser

Well, it is a right of passage I suppose. Dillon had his first ER visit after a little fall. Luckily no stitches were required, but the band-aid and black eye sure made him look like a tough guy for a week.

Whirl Hummingbird Whirl

A few years ago Mike wrote this poem for our friends Sally and Chris. They lost a baby around the same time as we did. I dug the poem back out last week after everything that has happened. I've been buzzed by a hummingbird the last couple days up here at my parents lake place and it makes me smile each time.

Whirl Hummingbird Whirl

As I lay one night unable to sleep
I say a prayer for the world I keep
But this night sad, I began to ponder
Where do the lost souls of unborn wander?

Are they reborn flowers or trees
Or do they come back fuzzy bumblebees
Thoughts ran through, nothing stuck
Then one whirled into my blackness by luck.

Metallic green wings outlining infinity
This bird was definitely sent from a Divinity
Buzz so calming and grand oculars so cute
Poking and prodding with its now musical flute

Dancing and painting this empty space
Then gone painfully without a trace
I beckoned and reached out and wanted oh more
Then I realized this passage had given me a chore

Send a message of hope and beauty this Fall
The wonder of life is that it happens at all
So when you see hummingbirds take comfort to know
Where the lost Souls of some unborn loved ones go.

Pops and Nunu came for a quick and much needed visit. We went to the aquarium. We're most grateful for Dillon and the sunshine he adds to every day.

Schrock Grandkids!

This weekend we got together at the Ralston's for Collin's b-day party. It was a great time. We were lucky to get the kids to cooperate and pose for a picture, identical to one we took of them all 1 year ago at Collin's 2007 b-day party. It is very rare we get them all together and willing to pose at the same time. See how they've all changed in a year.....

Lazy Summer Weekend

Here is what we did this past weekend to keep ourselves cool in the hot Seattle weather....went to the pool at Rainier w/ Debbie and Cody and then we toured the Pike Place Market early Sunday before the tourists arrived. It was fun! ps....if you click on the pictures to expand them and look closely, you can see Dillon's top two teeth coming in finally!

Proud Peony People

When it comes to our old house and yard, there isn't a lot that we get excited about. However, we are delighted with our latest flower in bloom - the peonies. When I first met Mike (5 years ago last week!) these were a couple little sticks Belle would trample. We've nursed them over the years and finally have some amazing blooms. These pics are after I cut over a dozen off for the house.

Father's Day

Sunday was all about two things - Dads and golf. We started the day with breakfast at the golf club. I couldn't resist the chance to dress Dillon in the snazzy patchwork plaid pants I bought him! In the afternoon we watched the US Open. Luckily Dillon wasn't too interested in the TV and kept himself entertained playing on the porch in the sunshine. Happy Father's Day to an amazing Dad, Mike, and to the two guys who taught us what good Dads are all about - Larry and Dave.
